The U.K. Hydrogen Roadshow

Hydrogen:
Fuel of The Future

Three pioneering British companies, INEOS,
Wrightbus and Ryze Hydrogen, have created
‘The UK Hydrogen Roadshow’

Daily videos from the roadshow

The UK Hydrogen Roadshow is a unique event raising awareness about the diverse applications of Hydrogen: The Fuel Of The Future, in the run up to the COP26 UN Climate Change Summit.

A world-first hydrogen double-deck bus built by zero-emission transport manufacturers Wrightbus, is driving from London to COP26 in Glasgow, visiting numerous UK partner businesses on its journey; all of whom are tackling the emissions crisis through world-changing innovations with hydrogen.

The Roadshow demonstrates the crucial role hydrogen is playing in decarbonising transport, homes and industry whilst creating and sustaining thousands of new skilled, green jobs.

Why Hydrogen

Versatile: powers homes,
industry, transport

Easily storable &
transportable

Zero Emissions (only
emits water)

Creates skilled jobs across the economy

Most abundant element
in the universe

Same refuel time & distance covered as fossil fuels

ZeroAvia

ZeroAvia is the leading innovator in zero emission aviation, focused on hydrogen-electric propulsion as the only viable way to tackle aviation’s climate change impact at scale. At Cotswold Airport, ZeroAvia is currently developing a hydrogen-electric powertrain for 19-seat aircraft – the next stage on its roadmap to scale the technology for progressively larger aircraft. The company is also developing a green hydrogen production and refuelling capability for aircraft and other vehicles on site.

Jordanhill School

Jordanhill is renowned not just for its academic excellence, but for its thriving programmes in sport, outdoor education, music and art.

We offer a wonderful learning environment, excellent resources and a commitment to help every child achieve to the very best of their abilities. As a school we reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of the City of Glasgow. We welcome staff of all nationalities and backgrounds.

We’re thrilled that Glasgow are hosting COP26 and that the Hydrogen Roadshow is visiting to teach us about the many ways in which Hydrogen can help decarbonise our society

The School Profile offers a short introduction to the school.

Suttons

Suttons Tankers won a three year contract with Ryze Hydrogen for the exclusive provision of logistics services to transport bulk hydrogen gas from the North West to the capital for Transport for London.

Ryze Hydrogen recognised Suttons as a market leader in the logistics sector for bulk gas distribution. Their national network of strategically positioned sites, reputation for class-leading levels of safety and the comprehensive engineering and technical support were key factors in being awarded the contract.

Baxi
Baxi has been a leading player in the British and Irish heating and hot water industry for over 150 years and has always been at the cutting edge of heating and hot water innovation.  We believe that decarbonisation of the gas grid where practicable through conversion to hydrogen could make a significant contribution towards our net zero carbon targets.

NanoSUN

NanoSUN is a world-leading, award-winning, engineering company focused on the development, manufacture and commercialisation of mobile hydrogen refueling solutions for use within the Transportation Industry. From Industrial Gases to Transport and Mobility sectors, we aim to accelerate hydrogen use with our innovative technologies by bridging the gap between the hydrogen supply industry and the needs of end-users for convenient, low cost, simple-to-use, and safe fuelling systems.

National Express West Midlands

National Express West Midlands has bought our last diesel bus – in 2019. We have pledged that our entire 1600-strong fleet will be zero-emission by 2030. We are proud to be operating Birmingham City Council’s 20 hydrogen buses which will go into service later this year.

JCB

Engineers at the JCB Power Systems engine factory in Derbyshire have developed the first hydrogen motor in the construction equipment industry. They successfully adapted established engine technology and used readily-available components to combust hydrogen, delivering power in a clean and cost-efficient manner. Two of these prototype engines has been installed in the company’s best-selling signature machines, the JCB backhoe loader and the JCB Loadall telescopic handler. Both of these prototype machines are now undergoing rigorous testing in JCB proving grounds in Staffordshire. Nothing but steam is emitted from the tailpipe.

JCB believes that hydrogen motors offer the quickest way to reach zero carbon dioxide emissions’ targets, especially from high use, high energy equipment such as large excavators, backhoe loaders and telescopic handlers. The company also believes there should be continued use and development of  internal combustion (ICE) technology as it will have an important, ongoing role in helping to reach zero carbon dioxide emissions.
